Home Security
Most burglaries happen when a house or flat is empty. Don't advertise your absence when you're on holiday, or even out at work or shopping.
60% of burglaries involve entry through windows. Many burglars smash the glass, reach inside and open the window. But if the window is locked, they would have to climb through broken glass and that is a real deterrent.
It is essential that all ground floor windows are fitted with locks.
Consider these simple measures to make your doors more secure:
- Door security bolts.
- Multi purpose door bolts.
- Hinge bolts. Door viewer.
- Door chains.
Fit a five lever BS 3621 Mortice Deadlock to your front door, and bolts to the top and bottom.
Back doors are often out of sight of neighbours and are a favourite break-in site for burglars, and patio doors are especially vulnerable. They should be fitted with specialist door locks and anti-lift devices.
Make it harder for the thieves to get into your home and there's a good chance that they will pass you by and look for easier pickings.
